Don’t worry, hit the “Defrost” button when the flurry is over and you’ll be able to see the entire screen again–although as long as you stay on a Google hosted page a light snowfall will continue.

Wow! What a great article. Mentions all the old-timey printer types of the past. These days, a printer is more than likely to be of the ink jet, laser jet variety. Does anyone remember Dot Matrix? How about simple Thermal Transfer printers? Dot matrix is pretty much done as a home user's choice of printer these days but they are still around. Well, anyway ... read up on Post Script and other printer related terminology at the following link, it's a good read.

How to Install Apps on Net10 / Straight Talk LG 900G

This handy video showed me how to install some free apps and games on my new low-cost phone. Not sure if these are considered smart phones, but it works well for my purposes and costs very little. I couldn't imagine paying $50 or more a month for something I use maybe 3 or less hours per month.

Add Automatic Virus Scanning, Video Conversion, and Remote Downloading to uTorrent for Free!!

Click to View: Add Automatic Virus Scanning, Video Conversion, and Remote Downloading to uTorrent for Free
Quoted from link: The free replacements for uTorrent's features may take a bit of time and energy to set up, but if you don't want to pay the $25, they'll do just as good a job as uTorrent Plus. Of course, they're pretty great features, and if you don't feel like going through all of the above, it could be worth the $25. At the very least, though, everyone should set up automatic virus scanning—especially if you're downloading sketchier torrents. That could save your bacon on more than a few occasions.

New Stumbleupon Logo? Love or Hate It?

Noooo! Whyyyy!

I hate the new logo but I do kinda' like what they did with the rest of the site. I will miss the HTML support in our posts but truthfully, not letting HTML will make the site more uniform for all sorts of devices.

Click here for more info on the changes happening at SU.

Some devices (cell phones mostly) had a problem reading posts that had user supplied HTML in them (I know as fact that mine couldn't generate it properly which made the mobile phone experience a bitch.)

Sooo ... I only have one complaint to file with SU, bring back the nice blue and green logo!!

No More Black Google Strip

Niiice! Not sure if anyone else had this problem but my Stumbleupon bar was often battling for screen space with my Google Strip in Chrome. This solves that problem, plus I like this much better than the strip. Aesthetically speaking that is. The hack requires the Chrome browser and an extension with some basic copy and paste, just follow the instructions at the link.

I recently got rid of my Android based phone, not because I am unhappy with the OS, not because I am unhappy with the service (although Virgin Mobile isn't all that great in this area but it does work in most areas around here.) It's simply because of the battery life on this thing! It's a Samsung Intercept m910, beautiful phone, lots and lots of features, except for that damn battery! I gave up with these super phones. I've had two of them and truthfully I'm sick of these devices. They are kinda' like having a little laptop in your pocket but I have found that they are not worth it.

I don't tweet and I can still do updates to my Facebook with any phone that supports email. I don't need the little apps at all, that's why I have a real computer. I use Google+ mostly now, Google+ is more than just a social site because it is tied in with all the other Google services.

In the start of the social revolution, Myspace was the "thing", and it was good until too many people took it up, at that time Facebook was a welcoming frontier, and it was good for a long while, but now? Nope, now it's just as polluted as MySpace was back in it's heyday and I'm guessing it is on it's way out. That's good news for Google+, it will certainly take the lead in the social site wars.

So what phone did I finally choose? A nice simple $25 per month Net10 (TracFone) LG900G that has awesome battery life, just enough internet features to keep me interested and awesome coverage in the PA & NJ areas that I frequent. It's time to go low-tech for me. I think we should have let our technology mature before busting out the next biggest and brightest ideas but that's just my opinion. Anyway ...

OpenID & Auto Logins

I've seen many a web site offer to allow me to log in using one of my other logins (usually through a social website like Facebook or Google,) however this is not something I would want to do all the time. It isn't that it's insecure, it's the fact that these Social websites often tend to fall into obscurity after awhile. I mean afterall, do you check your MySpace account anymore, or are you too busy on Facebook these days? If you have a login to a service or site like, for example, Pandora; using your Facebook login, well let's say years from now FB is no more, then what happens to that login to Pandora? Does it just go away? well, my guess is that Pandora will give you the chance to keep your account by asking you to create a username and password. But, why not get into that practice right now? I like the idea of the OpenID system but I think I am more than capable of managing my own login credentials. What do you think?

WinX DVD Copy Pro 3.0.0

WinX DVD Copy Pro 3.0.0

It's FREE for Limited Time!

Starting Over

This blog was once privately hosted, however it was more time consuming to learn and adapt to my hosting provider's application than it is to use Blogger (which is very easy to use.) Keeping up with the updates and trying to get scripts to work on my hosted server was a pain in the butt to say the least. I won't be importing my old posts, although the option is there, the information I would be importing would be almost useless as it pertains to older versions of XP and other technologies that are no longer used. Soooo, starting over is sometimes the best thing to do.
